Increasingly, many teachers are looking beyond apps designed specifically for educational purposes and turning instead to apps from the Entertainment category to help make their daily lessons more engaging. It’s called “Edutainment.” While there will always be a role for traditional teaching methods, sometimes it is difficult to keep students motivated and engaged.
However, if you put an iPad on front of a young student, you will see him/her focus immediately on the content and start working through it. Classrooms using iPads in the Chicago area have seen gains of 50-60% in reading, maths and science performance. While the education sector has been slow to embrace technology in the classroom, these sort of gains just can’t be ignored.
At simplyhowe, we have a number of learning products pipelined to exploit the advantages of app/games based learning in reading, maths and languages. We hope to be well placed to make some contribution to this new learning paradigm.
